Aloe juice comparison
This isn’t your grandma’s aloe plant.
Aloe juice by the bottle. Aloe plants on the windowsill. But have you ever asked which compounds you’re actually getting?
There’s nothing wrong with being an aloe fan. The interesting twist is that aloe juice and a specialized acemannan extract aren’t automatically equivalent.
“99% aloe” doesn’t answer every question
Acemannan is one of the polysaccharides researchers investigate in Aloe vera. Its amount and molecular characteristics can vary with raw material and processing. Studies of commercial aloe beverages have found differences among products; that does not mean every aloe juice is inactive or ineffective.
What should you compare?
- Ingredient: Does the product identify acemannan or just aloe?
- Form: Beverage, powder, capsule and topical gel serve different purposes.
- Processing: What does the maker disclose about manufacturing and standardization?
- Evidence: Are claims based on the actual product, or on unrelated lab research?
